Mayor’s Evensong and St Milburga Awards

A Mayor’s Evensong was held on Sunday 1st May at Holy Trinity Church

Mayor Dan Thomas presented the following St Milburga awards to members of the community, thanking them for their contributions to the town and community of Much Wenlock.

Alastair Humphries

Services to the community as an on-call Firefighter for 36 years and Watch Manager for 20 years

William Winton

In recognition of his involvement in beekeeping locally. A member of Shropshire Beekeepers Association, his ongoing volunteer committee work has helped professional and hobbyist keepers throughout the local community, particularly during the pandemic.

Mary Hill

With thanks for a decade of dedication and hard work as a Town Councillor and continued involvement with community and town matters.

David Turner

In recognition and thanks for many years serving as a Town and County Councillor, working hard for the community.

Kate Southan 

To recognise her hard work and dedication to the Gaskell Recreation Ground during her time as a Town Councillor, in particular her involvement with the new path and access project.

Susan Crooke-Williams

To acknowledge her dedicated and diligent work as church warden, particularly through the Covid period, when she worked incredibly hard to ensure the church was clean and accessible for times of quiet reflection and prayer and then made sure the church followed the guidelines when services were able to resume.
