Road Diversion

Shropshire Highways are carrying out improvement work in your local area, and we are contacting you today to let you know what we are doing.

Shropshire Highways will be surface dressing the road, and to do this, they will use hot bitumen emulsion to spray onto the road surface. Chippings will be laid over this via a spreading machine before the new surface is rolled and swept – 24 hours after surface treatment, returning around 7 days afterward to remove any loose debris.

Where are we working?

The work will be on the B3473 from Stocking Lane junction to Rudgewood Junction from Thursday 25 May to Friday 23 June and we will be working between 9.30am and 4.30pm on weekdays and 8am and 5pm on weekends.

Stud removal – Road closure Thursday 25 May and Friday 26 May

Surface dressing – Road closure Sunday 4 June to Tuesday 6 June

White lining – Road closure Friday 26 June

Please note that all our planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Any changes will be displayed on the yellow advanced warning signs and on https://one.network/

How will this affect traffic?

To maintain a safe environment, we need to fully close the road but notice of this will be given by way of advance warning signs and a fully signed diversion route will be in place. Please follow the hollow diamond diversion.

During the closure we would advise all motorists to use the signed diversion route, which has been agreed with Shropshire Council as we’ve carefully chosen this with suitability and safety in mind. We would also encourage all drivers to adhere to speed limits and follow appropriate signage to ensure the safety of those working on site and fellow road users. If you are travelling during this time, please make sure you plan in advance and allow extra time for your journeys.

Please note that all our planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. We’ll maintain access to businesses and residential properties within the closure at all times.

Full details of work to be carried out in the area can be found on https://one.network/

Will there be access within the closure?

Yes, if you are looking to access a property or business within the closure, we will provide access for you. If the property or business falls outside the road closure a signed diversion route will be in place that can be followed.

We will have staff on site who are able to assist with access within the closure. Our priority is to keep you and our staff safe, this means that there may be a bit of a wait while we make the site safe for you to travel to your property.

During the closure access to the works area will be restricted to:

  • Essential highway personnel
  • Local residents who live and reside within the road closure
  • Businesses located within the closure (if applicable)
  • Pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and equestrians
  • Emergency service vehicles
