VE Day Celebrations – Get involved! (social distancing measures applied)

Plans to celebrate VE Day with parties in the street and church green are plainly not possible HOWEVER Much Wenlock is endeavouring to still mark the day, encouraging everyone to enjoy Afternoon Tea at home, on the drive or in the garden – and commemorate this special day.

Fri 8 May (Bank Hol)

If able; Dress your house Red, White & Blue
Observe a 2 minute silence at 11am

Take a picnic out into your garden around 2pm, observing social distancing rules (so, no visitors), hopefully enjoy the sunshine, some food and maybe a drink.

Join the ‘Nation’s Toast to the Heroes of WW2’ at 3pm from the safety of your own home by standing up, raising a glass of refreshment of their choice and making the following ‘Toast’. “To those who gave so much, we thank you,” using this unique opportunity to pay tribute to the many millions at home and abroad that gave so much to ensure we all enjoy and share the freedom we have today.

There’s also a national sing along to Dame Vera Lynn in the evening but that is organised nationally.
